Elite Alumni Share Their Experiences at the Forum on the 30th Anniversary of School of Printing and Packaging

On the afternoon of November 17th, Elite Alumni Forum was held on the 30th Anniversary of School of Printing and Packaging. The alumni, along with retired and in-service teachers and students gathered together to share their experiences and strengthen their friendships.

This forum was hosted by Zhou Cuifang, Deputy Secretary of Party General Branch. Some retired teachers and former leaders including Zou Yujun, Yang Yingchun, Zhao Guochuan, Wu Xuezheng, Dong Yuhui, Yin Zhangwei, Zhang Zhaolong, and in-service leaders of school of printing and packaging, including Zuo Jun, Secretary of Party General Branch, Director Wan Xiaoxia and Deputy Director Yi Yaohua, participated in the forum.

At the forum, nine schoolfellows, sequenced by their years of entering college, gave their report to share their experiences and insights.

Wan Zhi (admitted in 1984), President and Secretary of Board of Changjiang Publishing and Media Co., Ltd., expounded the printing industry development and demand of talents centering on “Interaction and Combination of Printing Industry, Study and Research”. “ This kind of interaction and combination is the best way to keep the leading position in each field, providing an excellent opportunity for the two sides, namely discipline and industry, which will surely offer printing engineering a brighter future. People who are both professional and research-oriented will remain the most acclaimed talents in the market.” he remarked.

Lv Wei (admitted in 1989), Vice-President of Shenzhen Jinjia Pringting Group, was convinced that inter-disciplinary talents are in great demand. Students should make full preparations for a better future. In the first year, the students should read extensively; in the second year they should read books closely related to their majors; in the third year they should take an active part in social activities; in their last year they should reflect over the past and get the first job in their lives.

Zhang Xiongwen (admitted in 1995), Office Director of Hubei Daily Chutian Printing Company, elaborated on the printing digitalization and digital printing he had experienced. He reckoned that digital printing had gradually grown mature from DTP to CTP and then to the e-era at the present time.

Chen Quanwei (admitted in 1996), Director of Chief Engineer Office of Shenzhen Press Group Printing Co., Ltd., introduced the latest achievements of his company in technology R&D and the field of alterable newspaper printing on the topic of “Analysis of the Influence of Technical Innovation on the Current Newspaper Situation in a New Media Environment ”. He pointed out that printing companies should inherit traditions and at the same time explore new fields in the face of challenges brought by new media.

Li Wen (admitted in 1997), Chairman of Shanghai Alumni Association, expressed his congratulations on the 30th anniversary of School of Printing and Packaging and made a donation. On the topic of “Facing the reality and Embracing the difficulty”, he said, “We should extend our sincere thanks to all the teachers and classmates for their help; we should live and learn.”

Zhang Peng (admitted in 1999), Sales Manager of Wuhan Xinhong Pringting Co., Ltd., started Wuhan Pule Science Service Co., Ltd. with his classmates. Looking back on the last 10 years work, he regarded his overall development as the most appreciable gift. He also realized that products marketing is not based on dinner culture, and only by the combination of price, speed and quality can a business blossom naturally.

Wu Hanying (admitted in 2001), Deputy Director of Merchants Group, Yangpu, Hainan, encouraged all the students to know themselves clearly and get fully prepared for the coming future. He introduced the current situations of his classmates and his own job-hunting experience. What’s more, he believed that a right choice of career path will enable one’s further growth, and everyone should be serious about his or her work.

Liu Jinfang (admitted in 2000), Senior Sales Manager of Shanghai Branch of Heidelberg China Co., Ltd., impressed all the attendants with her sincere speech--“To the Junior Schoolfellows on the Occasion of Ten Years after My Graduation”. She described the busy but happy life of a female white collar. “We should value time and concentrate on our study. Under no circumstances should we stop learning. Even if we are busy, we can relax and adjust our mental state through dialogues with ourselves.” she remarked.

Liu Liangliang (admitted in 2011), Technical Director of Haosen Packaging Co., Ltd. of Fujian Nature Packaging Group. In his speech “Amelioration—My Experience After Graduation ”, he pointed out that one should forget his former honors, swallow his pride when communicating with basic-level workers, and reflect profoundly to figure out what he wants and go for it.

After the reports of all the schoolfellows, Zhao Chuanguo delivered his speech on behalf of the retired teachers. He said that alumni are precious fortunes for School of Printing and Packaging (SPP). He hoped that more schoolfellows could come back to Wuhan University to make speeches, which would surely contribute to the development of SPP. Secretary Zuo Jun spoke highly of the exciting reports of the nine schoolfellows and expressed his thanks to them for their attendance and congratulations, to the retired teachers and former leaders for their efforts in developing SPP, and wished all of them good health and happiness. He then awarded the Shanghai Alumni Association with certification and finally concluded that these exciting reports are meaningful to the junior schoolfellows as well as talents cultivation work in SPP. He expressed his hope that all the schoolfellows could frequently return to the “family”, and wished them all the best both in their lives and careers.
