Recently, the latest research --《Low-Cost, Disposable, Flexible and Highly Reproducible Screen Printed SERS Substrates for the Detection of Various Chemicals》of the research group of Wu Wei, an associate researcher in our department has been published by Scientific Reports(2015,5,10208).

《Scientific Reports》 is a comprehensive academic journal published by Nature Publishing Group, which reports the world's innovative achievements in the field of natural sciences.

The study focused on the preparation of large-area, disposable, low-cost and high-performance SERS active substrate material by using screen printing, which is applied to a variety of foods in common dyes, and detection of toxic compounds commonly used in special industries. Using the substrates researched by this method can directly detect complex food such as direct detection of melamine-tainted thick milk, and it is of great scientific value.

The technique of Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) overcomes the inherent shortcomings of weak Raman signal tradition, which can make the Raman intensity increase by several orders of magnitude. SERS substrate materials can be used for the detection of trace analysis, biological testing, safety testing of food packaging and other applications, which are difficult for the traditional Raman sensitivity and measurement speed to complete.

In recent years, the research group of Wu Wei, an associate researcher has actively cooperated with Physical Science and Technology Department of Wuhan University and City University of Hong Kong, actively carrying out interdisciplinary research of printed materials and printed electronics, has achieved the preparation of high performance, large area SERS substrate by inkjet printing (Applied Physics Letters, 2014, 105, 211902) and screen printing, etc. By now, they has applied for three patents, including American patents.
