The master’s degree authority point of Pulp and Paper Engineering (Printing Engineering) was obtained in 1995 and was among the earliest master’s degree authorization of the disciplines in China. The major has five stable research directions which are Graphic Reproduction Theory, Graphic Information Processing, Electronic Publishing, Printing Technology and Quality Control, Printing Management and Printing Material. This discipline is among the 211 Project Key Construction Disciplines during the period of the Ninth Five-year Plan. The major has developed certain advantages and features in areas such as Printing Science and Technology and its related research. It has successfully completed research projects such as “Foundation and Application Research of New Model of Hybrid Spectrum”, “the System of Image Quality Inspection and Evaluation”, and other National Natural Science Foundation research projects or the provincial and ministerial research projects. Now it is in the leading position in China concerning aspects like researches on the theory and application of graphic information processing and copy. Main courses of this major are Image Quality Analysis and Evaluation, Modern Printing Management, Printing Quality Control, Higher Multimedia Technology, Graphic Communication Theory, the Organization and Development of Printing Production Process, Digital Screening Theory, Visual Color Analysis, Printability and Material Analysis, etc.
