The doctoral degree authorization station of Graphic Communication Engineering was established in 2005 as a secondary discipline doctoral station subordinate to the first class interdisciplinary doctoral station of Computer Science and Technology. It aims at cultivating high-level talents urgently needed in researches on the theory, technology and application of related areas such as Media Communication Technology, Color Expression and Reproduction and Packaging and Information Recorded Material. The research contents cover certain areas related to image communication such as the acquisition, storage, screening, reproduction, security, reappearance and application of the image data. The station has stable researches in Color Reappearance Theory and Application, Digital Image Processing, Information Recorded Materials, Anti-Counterfeiting Technology, Color Appearance Model Theory, Application and Software Engineering. This major has developed certain advantages and features in areas such as Image Communication Science and Technology and its related research areas. In 2004, the Image Communication Science and Technology research center of Wuhan University was established under this major. The station has successfully completed research projects such as “Color Forecast Based on the Multi-Spectral Theory”, “Digital Asset Management Information System”. It is now in the leading position in research area of the theory and application of graphic communication in China. Main courses of this major include Higher Chromatology, Graphic Communication Engineering, Computer Vision, Information Recorded Materials, Digital Media Technology, Color Management, Digital Asset Management, etc.
