“Li Gan Jian Ying Team” from our school is awarded the honorable title of the 2014 “Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Team”, winning 40,000 yuan provided by the China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award Fund.

Directed by three instructors from School of Printing and Packaging, “Li Gan Jian Ying Team” includes 14 students from School of Printing and Packaging, School of Computer, School of Electronic and Information Engineering and so on. The instructors are Professor Qian Jun, Associate Professor Li Zhijiang and Lecturer Chen Na.

Established in June 2010, the team has always been committed to the research and development of stereoscopic photography, naked eye 3D display, grating three-dimensional imaging and other technologies. Based on the analysis of grating three-dimensional imaging principle, the team actively explored the three-dimensional image coding method and obtained the three-dimensional image synthesis algorithm, as a result of which it finally invented an integrated system designed for three-dimensional picture of the sequence parallax image processing software called SPS and developed a new three-dimensional photographic paper coating suitable for the direct output and print of stereophotograph. At the present time, the team is making further exploration into the interactive stereoscopic projection system.

The team has obtained tremendous achievements in various contests: the Grand Prize in the eighth Hubei Province “Challenge Cup • Youth in Wo”, the University Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Contest, and the First Prize in its ninth session; the First Prize in the twelfth "Challenge Cup", the National Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Contest, and the Third Prize in its thirteenth session.

It is known that the China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award Fund was established in 2004, on the occasion of the centenary birthday of late comrade Deng Xiaoping. According to Deng Xiaoping’s wishes, his relatives donated all royalties during his lifetime, authorizing the Central Committee of the Communist Young League(CYL), China Youth Federation, the National Federation and the National Working Committee of Young Pioneers to set up funds to encourage young people’s creation and innovation. Open to all research and innovation teams of college students, the selection was organized by the Central Committee of CYL and the School Division. Through layers of selection and experts’ evaluation, 100 teams were awarded the honorable title of "Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Team."
