On September 9th, School of Printing and Packaging held a grand opening ceremony for 2015 freshmen at academic lecture hall on the third floor. Many leaders and teachers attended this ceremony such as the department secretary of the party committee Zuo Jun, deputy secretary Zhou Cuifang, deputy head of the department Yi Yaohua and other leaders, the printing and packaging lab researchers and the relevant functional departments teachers, especially the head teachers and student assistant teachers from freshman class. Besides, all the 2015 freshmen and some of their parents participated in the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by the deputy secretary of the party committee of the department Zhou Cuifang.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the secretary of the party committee Zuo Jun expressed a warm welcome to the 2015 freshmen, congratulated the parents who brought up the freshmen, and extended sincere greetings to all the teachers for the Teacher’s Day. He explained what university is and how to spend time in the university from perspectives such as university functions, learning idea, training mode, growing platform and education management. He introduced the open and international teaching characteristics of our school and the students' employment advantages, combining with the successful examples of our department alumni, and he encouraged freshmen to adapt to the new environment, learn to transform their roles and master new learning method.

“The reality is this shore while the ideal is that shore and the middle are rapid rivers, yet action is the bridge over the river”, Liang Yuxuan, on behalf of the freshmen quoted the saying of Russian writer Krylov, calling on the students to devote themselves into the new learning life, be earnest and down-to-earth, forge ahead and create a more brilliant future for themselves and their country..

Mr Zhang, on behalf of the parents, thanked the university and school for the best care for their children and the warm reception. He hoped that the students start from anew, think correctly, set ambitious goals, adjust themselves and be independent.

After the opening ceremony, all the freshmen and parents visited the teaching and laboratory equipment of our department. It was reported that our school admitted 79 freshmen from 30 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) and 2 new dropped-in from the Hong Kong special administrative region.

To help freshmen adapt to college life as soon as possible, our department has established a column for freshmen on the department website and carried out a series of thematic education activity.
