On December 18th, the 8th Lotus Scholar Award ceremony for excellent undergraduates was held in the Administrative Building of Wuhan University. The 2013 award went to Bi Tongtong, a student from the school of printing and packaging. The experience of Bi Tongtong not only fully embodied the sense of responsibility of contemporary university students, but also presented the spirit of diligence, optimism and creativity of students from Wuhan University, and his experience won warm applauses of all the leaders and schoolmates in attendance.

It is said that as a large public service activity, Lotus Scholar has donated 115.94 million yuan during the past 16 years, and has provided financial assistance to over 20,400 excellent students and teams. After well-prepared recommendations from each department and student’s organizations of different level, Bi Tongtong was very honored to become one of the 14 awarded students and team from all over Wuhan University.

Bi Tongtong is an undergraduate admitted in 2011, majoring in printing engineering from the school of printing and packaging. The fact that he is from a village of Tangshan, Hebei province, gives him many excellent personalities since his childhood such as diligence, doughtiness and independence. He is very optimistic, enthusiastic, responsible, and active in his university life. Under his leadership as the chairman of the student union of school of printing and packaging, the student union won the Sportsmanship Award and the third prize in Apparel and Accessories Competition of Golden Autumn Art Festival. Meanwhile, he takes the role of leading player of boating team of Wuhan University and basketball team of school of printing and packaging. He is strict with himself in training. As the leading player, he helped the boating team won the first prize in the Double Star Boating Competition and won the second prize in the Boating Competition of Hubei Province, and even got an honor in the nationwide competition. Moreover, he plays an active role in social activities. In the academic research, he won the second prize of the so-called industrial Olympics in Hubei province and obtained a patent, and also ranked the first in the SYB planning competition. Overall development has been his goal throughout his life in university, and he has been the model in study. His grades were the best among all the classmates and he got many reputations.

The open, international and industry-study-research-combinational teaching characteristics of school of printing and packaging have cultivated many quality talents. As the representative and the model, Bi Tongtong embodies the spirits of our students. It is hoped that he will continue his role of model and pass on optimistic power in his future life.
