On Sept. 13-14, the 11th Asian Lighting Conference was held in Kobe, Japan. More than 100 representatives from Asian countries attended the conference,including Chinese experts such as Bing Shukui, President of China Illuminating Engineering Society; Hao Luoxi, Vice President of China Illuminating Engineering Society, Executive President of the 11th Asian Lighting Conference in China, and professor of Tongji University; Professor Luo Ming, Zhejiang University. Associate Professor Liu Qiang and Huang Zheng, first-year graduate student of our department also attended the conference.
The conference is an international academic conference jointly organized by the China Illuminating Engineering Society (CIES), the Illuminating Engineering Institute of Japan (IEIJ) and the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers (KIIEE). China, Japan and Korea take turns to host the conference annually. The theme of the conference is “The LED age: Challenge from Asia”. It aims to further integrate Asian academic resources in the field of illuminating and promote the development of illuminating technology in Asia.

At the conference, Liu Qiang made an academic report titled "Do people prefer whiter light" on the research topics of evaluation of LED lighting quality and whiteness representations of light sources. Experts had academic exchanges with our teachers and students on topics such as color adaptation and conversion of different lighting scenes, design methods of psychophysical experiments, meta-analysis and so on.

After the academic reports, the organizing committee held an award ceremony. Huang Zheng of our department was presented the Best Student Paper Award. The Asian Lighting Conference where our teachers and students demonstrated good professional qualities not only broadened research horizons of our teachers and students, but also facilitated the strengthening of international exchanges and cooperation.
