On Nov.14th, 2018 Color Science and Technology Symposium and Doctoral Forum, mainly organized by our department’s Digitalization of Cultural Relics Color Information and Virtual Reproduction Engineering Technology Research Center of Hubei province, were held in School of Printing and Packaging. The latest research topics and achievements in the field of color science and technology were discussed in depth in the conference.

A total of more than 50 people which included scholars and graduates from University of Leeds, Yunnan Normal University, PLA Information Engineering University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Wuhan University and other universities; and business leaders of Shenzhen Jinjia Color Printing Group Co., Ltd., Beijing Prism Color Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Today’s Printing Union Image Equipment Co., Ltd attended the conference.

The forum was convened and hosted by Prof. Wan Xiaoxia, director of the research center. Prof. Shi Junsheng, dean of the School of Physics and Electronic Information, Yunnan Normal University, and Xiao Kaida, researcher of the School of Design, University of Leeds, respectively made academic reports titled “Research Progress related to Color Science”, “Real Reproduction of Color Images Based on 3D Printing”, “Measurement and Application of Skin Color”.

Participants shared their research findings and the according applications and many research hotspots such as reproduction of spectral colors, modern management of colors, digital protection of cultural relics’ colors, construction of textile color systems, and theories of color vision were discussed.

Participants had a heated discussion during the whole process of symposium and it enhanced the understanding and friendship of experts and industry participants and also promoted the research and application of color science and technology in China.
