Organized mainly by General Administration of Press and Publication, 2018 China Printing Innovation Conference with the theme of “Focus on Intellectualization” was held in Beijing on Sept. 8-9. The conference aimed to explore the new path of intelligently upgrading and developing the printing industry, and lead the high-quality development of China's printing industry.

Liu Xiaokai, Director of Department of Printing and Distribution of General Administration of Press and Publication, Wang Ruihua, Deputy Director of Department of Equipment Manufacturing Industry of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Wang Huaming, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a keynote speech respectively. The relevant heads of Bureau of Publication of Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, Department of Printing and Distribution, Department of Publishing Management, Department of Planning and Development of General Administration of Press and Publication, and Department of Equipment Manufacturing Industry of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology attended the meeting. Dong Yiwei, Deputy Director of Department of Printing and Distribution of General Administration of Press and Publication, presided over the meeting.

Experts from China Academy of Printing Technology, Chinese Academy of Press and Publication, National Printing Standardization Technical Committee, heads of provincial-level departments of press and publication management, teachers and students from colleges and universities with printing as their major, and representatives of national printing model enterprises attended the meeting.

During the conference, a series of theme activities such as intelligent manufacturing industry alliance of printing industry, collaborative innovation forum of printing education and industry-university-research cooperation, biennial exhibition of printing art designs, special exhibitions of printing development achievements and printing education were organized.

Wang Ruihua delivered a keynote speech in which she illustrated China's development strategy for smart manufacturing and interpreted releva-nt policies.

Wang Huaming delivered a keynote speech in which he introduced the development trend of China's smart manufacturing industry and sorted out the its development direction.

Hu Guijin, Secretary General of National Printing Standardization Technical Committee, delivered a speech.

The conference also organized activities such as model case sharing of intelligent manufacturing in the printing industry, road show of innovative projects and launching of “intelligent manufacturing test line for the printing of a book”, which presented the gratifying achievements and valuable experience of the intelligent transformation and upgrading of China's printing enterprises in recent years.

School of Printing and Packaging, Wuhan University co-organized the special exhibition of printing education and presented its school-running work from these aspects such as an overview of School of Printing and Packaging of Wuhan University, talent training, discipline construction, scientific research, international exchanges, social services, achievements and so on.

During the collaborative innovation forum of printing education and industry-university-research cooperation, Li Zhijiang delivered a keynote speech titled "Exploration of New Engineering for Training of Innovative Talents in Printing". Wan Xiaoxia participated in the theme activities in the forum’s conversation session.
